Powder Metallurgy High Speed Hob
Compared with smelting high-speed steel, powder metallurgy high-speed steel has the following advantages:
(1) Powder metallurgy high-speed steel can solve the problem of carbide segregation. The carbide grain of powder metallurgy high-speed steel is 2-3 μm, which removes carbide segregation, thereby improving the strength, toughness and hardness of the steel, and due to the large surface area of carbide particles evenly distributed, the wear resistance is increased by 20% ~30%. This feature makes powder metallurgy high-speed steel suitable for manufacturing tools that are prone to chipping or require sharp cutting edges and high strength and toughness during strong intermittent cutting, such as gear shapers, end mills, etc., especially suitable for manufacturing large-sized tools. Its life can be increased by 2 to 3 times than that of smelting high-speed steel tools.
(2) Good grinding workability. Due to the fine and uniform carbides, powder metallurgy high-speed steel has good grinding workability. The grinding workability of powder metallurgy high-speed steel with 5% vanadium mass fraction is equivalent to that of smelting high-speed steel with 2% vanadium mass fraction, and the grinding efficiency is higher than that of smelting. High-speed steel is 2 to 3 times higher, and the grinding surface roughness is significantly reduced.
(3) It can manufacture superhard high-speed steel. In the case of the same chemical composition, compared with smelting high-speed steel, the normal temperature hardness of powder metallurgy high-speed steel can be increased by 1-1.5HRC, the hardness after heat treatment can reach 67-70HRC, and the high-temperature hardness at 600 ℃ is 2 higher than that of smelting high-speed steel ~3HRC. Using the new technology of powder metallurgy high-speed steel, high carbides (TiC and NbC) can be added to the existing high-speed steel to manufacture new superhard high-speed steel materials.
(4) It can ensure the isotropy of physical and mechanical properties. Due to the process characteristics of powder metallurgy, the isotropy of powder metallurgy high-speed steel is guaranteed, and the internal stress and deformation of heat treatment are reduced.
(5) It can save steel and man-hours. Using powder metallurgy high-speed steel to directly press the blade blank can reduce the machining allowance and save steel and man-hours.
