According to the international standard, the precision of the standard gear shaper cutter is divided into 3 types: AA grade, A grade and B grade. In order to process the gears that need to be re-shaved or ground, the pre-shaving or pre-grinding gear shapers should be used respectively to leave a certain machining allowance on the gear tooth surface. Gear shaper blades are divided into four types: disc, bowl, cylinder and tapered shank according to their shapes.
Disc shaper cutters are mainly used for processing internal and external meshing spur, helical and herringbone gears.
The bowl-shaped gear shaper mainly processes spur gears with shoulders and multiple internal and external meshing. The difference between it and the disc-shaped gear shaper is that the nut used for clamping can be accommodated in the body of the gear shaper. Therefore, processing is not hindered.
The cylindrical gear shaper is used to process internal gears and external gears with small modules, and the thread by the inner hole is screwed on the main shaft of the gear shaper.
Taper shank shaper is mainly used for machining internal meshing spur and helical gears.
